I love old photos! I have been blessed to have been given some of our old family photos from both sets of grandparents. I have had these photos locked away in a special drawer in my desk and look at them from time to time and decided it was time to share some of them on-line. I adore the photos of my parents as kids, especially as I am preparing to have my own child I wonder if he/she (we now know it is a ’she’ ) will look anything like the images captured in these photos of my parents. I also treasure the photo of my Great Great Great Grandmother (the last one posted above). I wish I knew what year it was taken! The photos in this ALBUM are mostly of my parents when they were kids and my grandparents when they were first married. The first pictures are of my dad growing up and the last pictures are of my mom.
Halloween Weekend PHOTOS
Halloween weekend in VA was beautiful. We didn’t go to any dress up parties but we did kind of dress up for free Chipotle burritos by putting some foil on. It was totally worth it. The line was not long at all and the burritos tasted better than normal… maybe it was because they were free! Halloween night Fred and I also went to a 3D showing of the Nightmare Before Christmas, that was fun. Than I got to spend the day on Saturday trying to teach myself guitar and hiking around Great Falls with my sis Terra. Hope you enjoy the PHOTOS.

Corn Maze in The Plains PHOTOS
This weekend was beautiful! Fred and I took full advantage of it by visiting The Corn Maze in The Plains, VA. The theme for the maze this year wasOur A-maizing Earth! So the maze was in the shape of an earth with hands holding it up, you can see the aerial picture above. As you worked your way through the maze you had to find 8 different stations to solve a sort of puzzle. We had a great time taking a hay ride, eating at food off the grill, finding our way through the maze and purchasing some treats from the barn store. Feel free to take a look at our PHOTOS.
We’re expecting! We want to share our exciting news with all of you. I am pregnant and will be giving birth to our first child around April 5th. We’ve been looking forward to starting a family and are very happy it will be realized soon. We do plan on finding out the gender of the baby, which will be in another 5 weeks or so. The picture at the top is our baby, ok so it looks more like a peanut in that picture but the top + is it’s head and the bottom + is it’s rump. The dot in the middle is where the heart is. This picture was taken awhile back when the baby was just a little guy. The baby is now the size of a lemon, so my weekly babycenter email tells me. The picture of me was taken yesterday, you can’t really tell that I’m pregnant in my everyday clothes, that’s why I thought the above cartoon was so funny!
2008 Fall Cookie Decorating PHOTOS
This weekend, while Fred was hunting, I went and decorated fall cookies with Nicole, Trina and Jasmyn. Nicole had everything ready when we got there. She had already cooked all of the cookies, cut them out in fall shapes (leaves, pumpkins and acorns) and mixed all of the frosting colors! It was very impressive. We ended up decorating around 4 dozen cookies to give to the church (McLean Bible Church Loudoun) to distribute to the community to let them know about MBC Loudoun. We had a really great time. I also had my first experience with Wii. I learned how to play ‘Rock Band Guitar’, which was really fun. You can check out the pictures on Nicole’s website.
Pizza Making PHOTOS
Terra (my sister) and her roommates had a pizza making party last week. It was a contest of sorts. They provided all of the toppings and different types of crusts and each of the 4 groups made different pizzas. There was a judge. All of the pizzas turned out to be delicious, and since we were sharing ovens they came out in rounds so we ate our way through the evening each time a new pizza was finished baking and ready to be cut into. Fred and I made a deep dish pizza with mozzarella, pepperoni, fresh cut tomato, basil from out of the garden and freshly minced garlic. What a great idea for a party, kudos goes to Alan for that one!
Bible Study Fall Party 08 PHOTOS
We decided to get a jump start on celebrating Fall with our small group. Holly and Mike hosted the party and we all brought our favorite fall foods. It was a great time to visit with our friends and eat all of the yummy foods that this season brings!
Mount Vernon PHOTOS
We visited Mount Vernon this weekend. Mount Vernon was the home of George Washington and his family. The property was beautiful. We went on a weekend when there was a 18th-Century Craft Fair going on so there were many people dressed in period wear, making crafts and food food (like the women above making liquid chocolate from coco beans for an old fashioned chocolate drink). We had the opportunity to take a boat tour on the Potomac River to see the property from the water. Mount Vernon also has some amazing museums with shows. One of the shows that we attended was a in a multi media movie theater with a 3D show, when the cannons would go off red lights would flash around the room and your chair would vibrate, and when the solders were walking through snow on the screen a snow machine kicked in over our heads and it actually snowed in the room.
Shenandoah Mountain PHOTOS
A couple weekends ago Fred, Mocha and I had the opportunity to cruse up to the Shenandoah Mountains for the day. It was a beautiful clear day so we were able to take in some great sights. We also picked up our traditional Shenandoah Mountain homemade apple cider along the way at an apple stand that is present each year. The day before, while we were out walking and letterboxing we saw an adorable fox sitting by a river, Fred was quick with the camera and shot the picture above.
